Zina Gomez-Liss

Tell-Tale

The love-notes you gave me before

Are sealed beneath the wooden floor,

Under the plank that once was loose.

I nailed it down—and now I choose

To carefully recall the time

When our romance was in its prime.

You fled so fast—it felt like theft,

And what you broke is all that’s left.
